There is currently a growing sense of pessimism among \nindividuals in respect of their personal debt with almost 40% of people \nworried about their current level of debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Credit cards are the main source of worry at 47% but overdrafts at \n28% and mortgage repayments at 23% are not far behind. Indeed, concern \nre mortgage repayments is increasing quarter on quarter, up from 19% to \n23%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Payday paralysis is a worry for 38% of people in the sense that they  are utterly dependent on receiving their funds on the next payday. In  fact for monthly paid persons, the struggle often begins on day 20 of  the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"335\" height=\"359\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nationaldebtrelief.co.uk\/debt-articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Fotolia_49486229_XS.jpg\" alt=\"Financial distress\" class=\"wp-image-12266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationaldebtrelief.co.uk\/debt-articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Fotolia_49486229_XS.jpg 335w, https:\/\/www.nationaldebtrelief.co.uk\/debt-articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Fotolia_49486229_XS-280x300.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Other warning signs of distress are that over a quarter of people are\n saving less than they used to and one in five put off taking big \nfinancial decisions.
