Let\u2019s assume also that the relationship is such that the couple lives together (whether in a rented or owned property) and that living expenses are also shared according to the income levels of each partner. In such a scenario, one or other or both partners may encounter financial difficulty and one or both partners may be insolvent. A might be insolvent while B might be solvent. In the context of being in a relationship, it may be that the better off partner is willing to assist the worse off partner in resolving financial problems.
