Individual Voluntary Arrangements are  mainly used for unsecured debts, and it is rare for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaldebtrelief.co.uk\/debt-help\/remortgage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">mortgage arrears<\/a> to be included in an IVA plan for that reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing to do if your debt payments are out of control is to speak to an expert, for example an <strong>Insolvency Practitioner<\/strong>,\n particularly if you feel you may be facing bankruptcy or repossession. A\n professional can take an overview of your finances including all of \nyour debts, and make suggestions based on this, as well as helping you \nto carry these forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although an IVA is normally not used for secured debts such as \nmortgage arrears, if you have other debts that are not secured, using an\n IVA for these may be used to relieve some of the pressure on your \nmortgage. An expert will be able to consider your  situation as a whole, including your income, outgoings and assets.
