Consider trying some of these simple dos and don’t for debtors.
Dos for Debtors
- Cut up all your credit cards – now.
- Cut up all your store cards – now.
- Take in a lodger to increase your income.
- Check that you are receiving all the tax credits to which you are entitled.
- Consider working additional overtime hours to increase your income.
- Consider taking a second or weekend job.
- Prepare a monthly household Income & Expenditure Statement.
- Reduce socializing, smoking, drinking, shopping.
- Talk to your bank manager, to CAB, to CCCS or to an insolvency services provider.
- Talk to your spouse/partner/children.
Don’ts for Debtors
- Bury your head in the sand.
- Go on a shopping spree.
- Take an expensive holiday.
- Throw a party.
- Incur new debt.
- Drink.
- Smoke.
- Eat out.
- Spoil your children.
- Keep your worries to yourself.
